Insurance cover for damage in the aviation sector – observe pilot clause

Time and again, insurers refuse to pay benefits after air accidents because pilots were at the controls who are not on the contract. Anyone who lets others fly their aircraft should be sure to check their policy before doing so.

The insurance conditions are always described unambiguously in the insurance contract for (comprehensive) hull insurance. Nevertheless, there are always ambiguities and it is not obvious for everyone which pilots are covered by the insurance in which case. ….
